Art Lounge Manila is proud to present Ed Uygongco’s debut solo exhibition entitled “Where the Sky Meets the Sea.” The exhibition showcases a collection of the 93-year-old artist’s ethereal seascapes that demonstrate his attention to detail and masterful strokes that are so evident in his works.

Ed Uygongco’s works are a reflection of his deep appreciation for the natural world, particularly the beauty of the sea. In this exhibition, we see a meeting of horizons where east meets west. Although some of the works subjects are decidedly western or decidedly Asian, his execution is consistently Oriental and conveys a sense of peace and calm where everything is in perfect balance and harmony.

The exhibition runs from June 2nd to June 15th, 2023 at Art Lounge Manila in Molito, Alabang. Visitors will be able to view a collection of 32 of Uygongco’s watercolor paintings which showcase his signature style of seascapes. Uygongco’s paintings are not just an expression of his artistic talent but also a reflection of his deep love and respect for the sea.

Also exploring her works’ forms, colors, and textures is Jo Uygongco whose artistic streak was influenced by her father, Ed Uygongco. She is a prolific artist who has been experimenting with various mediums throughout her career. Her latest exhibition, entitled “Flowers Bloom” features an experimental interpretation of flowers done with acrylic ink blooms on cold pressed papers.

The resulting works are bold, vibrant, and dynamic both in form and execution. She explores the beauty and visual cacophony of flowers through her unique style of painting. The exhibition features a small collection of works that are displayed in Art Lounge Manila-Molito’s Mezzanine Level. The exhibition runs from June 2nd to June 15th, 2023, and both exhibitions’ artist reception will be held on June 4th, 2023, at 3:00 PM.

Ed Uygongco’s “Where the Sky Meets the Sea” is a beautiful exhibition that showcases the artist’s deep love and respect for the natural world, while Jo Uygongco’s paintings are not just beautiful representations of flowers, they also convey a sense of emotion and meaning.
