Riding the wave of Filipino Hip-Hop

PinoyHip-Hop music has evolved over the past several decades. What was once an underground counterculture movement has now been embraced by the mainstream, with Filipino rappers enjoying a level of popularity that was only dreamt of back then.

However, not all rappers are lucky enough to get their big break and Pandayo Entertainment has been hard at work touching base with deserving artists, giving them a platform to showcase their skills. “Pandayo started as a way to scout for talented Filipinos who wanted a larger reach for their music did not have the opportunity to,” Pandayo co-CEO Boss Toyo shared.

This has led to several visits to different cities and towns using the Pandayo Van. Patterned after the popular Wish FM Bus, the Pandayo Van features artists laying down their best verses live.

Not content with the virtual space, Pandayo Entertainment has been branching out to holding physical events. The upcoming Alon Music Festival is the group’s biggest event yet, bringing together the most popular names in Pinoy Hip-Hop with up and coming stars.

“The event is part of our commitment in promoting and showcasing local music and also celebrate our CEOs’ birthday, Mr. Phoebus Samson and Mark Maglasang,” Pandayo Entertainment General Manager JekMotita said.

“Staying true to our promise, we will continue to support and discover talented artists, musicians and provide a platform to showcase their music. We also want to give them a chance to perform with their idols,” he added.

The Alon concert will see some of the biggest names in Pinoy Hip-Hop such as Gloc-9, Shanti Dope, Ex-Battalion, SkustaClee, Mike Kosa, Boss Toyo and Mike Kosa. Other performers include Pricetagg, Psychedelic Boyz, Pio Balbuena, Ryssi Avila, Abaddon, Third Flo, Al James, Craxymix, 187 Mobztas, Pilya, Omar Baliw and many more.

The Alon Music Festival will be held at the Amoranto Stadium on June 12, 2022. Tickets are available at Php100 until June 10, and walk-in price is at Php1,000. Interested guests can contact Angelo Padilla at 09176056701 or Chumichill Linda at 09165604404 to order.
