Therma Visayas Inc. (TVI), operator of AboitizPower’s Toledo City power plant, recently spearheaded Project T3–TechVoc-TESDA-Training–a community skills program targeting unemployment in TVI’s host communities.
Project T3 offers technical vocational training in NC-II Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), NC-II Pipefitting, and NC-II Bread and Pastry Production linked to a Community Bakery initiative. Selected trainees hail from TVI’s impact communities, specifically Barangays Bato and Cabitoonan in Toledo City.
TVI, under facility head Noel Cabahug, not only sponsors assessment fees for NC-II certifications but also emphasizes a commitment to creating job-ready individuals through comprehensive training and support.
Recognizing Toledo City as an industrial hub in need of a skilled workforce, Cabahug anticipated that graduates of this program will be immediately “job-ready,” contributing to a more vibrant Toledo economy–an objective at the core of Project T3.
Toledo City Mayor Marjorie “Joie” Perales commended the initiative, citing TVI’s prior contributions. T3, a collaboration with Aboitiz Foundation, TESDA, and CTU Pinamungajan, ensures top-notch technical training for 100 beneficiaries in its launch phase, aligning with market demands for gainful employment.
Project partner Engr. Redjie Arcadio, CTU campus director, underscored the program’s relevance by focusing on practical training and current industry trends in welding, scaffolding, and commercial baked goods production–skills in high demand, making participants highly marketable.
Arcadio highlighted the program’s end goal: securing gainful permanent employment for T3 participants. He emphasized the meticulous identification and development of skill training programs to meet the human resources needs of the market and industry.
TVI’s Cabahug expressed optimism for Project T3, emphasizing the virtuous cycle it creates. Each stride in the program’s progress amplifies sustainability, elevating living standards and contributing to the economy of Toledo.
