In the language of art, nature symbolizes a diverse set of beliefs and interpretations. Yet in its sublime definition, nature reflects the art and its artist as there is divine beauty in the world that surrounds mankind — a beauty that has inspired artists throughout history to capture its essence on canvas, in sculpture, through music, and other forms of media. The participating artists have committed to interpreting the innate artistry that nature possesses.
“Prisms of Nature” narrates the natural environment’s spiritual hymns and songs that speak to the soul, inspiring an oeuvre that emphasizes its vivid artistic essence. The works encapsulate a modern perspective on the concept of landscapes, seascapes, and horizons, infusing it with unique artistic expression.
In particular, Vic Bachoco’s facades of boats settled in the seashore boast the bright and pleasant colors of land and sea, emanating a sense of summer through masterful brush strokes. In a similar vein, Richard Perez’ skilled application of layers upon layers of acrylic and thread reveals nature’s prismatic colors and textures anew, contrasting with the free-flowing strokes of watercolor by Magoo Valencia that emulates the free-spirited energy of unspoiled greenery.
The exhibition also presents the timeless interpretations of horizons by Juvenal Sansó, referred to as his “Modernos.” Sansó’s artistic renditions capture the endless expanse of horizons in a manner that aligns with contemporary artistic sensibilities.
In its glory, “Prisms of Nature” is a celebration and dedication of humanity to its natural provider and protector. To mankind, nature is the foremost integral element of life, therefore its existence is detrimental to the advancement and preservation of human sentience. As its inhabitants, we must respect and safeguard nature from harmful activity.
“Prisms of Nature” will be on view from September 7 — 18, 2023, with an Artist Reception on September 8, Friday at 5 PM. Galerie Joaquin Podium is located on the 3rd Level, The Podium, ADB Avenue, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City.
