John Keats’ poem about the poetry and beauty of nature says it best, that no matter the season, life endures. He sought to impart to his readers his intuitive understanding of the universe and the life-affirming beauty found in nature. Keats was a noted poet of the English Romantic Movement and belonged to the second generation of Romantic poets. He was best known for the vivid imagery in his writing.
Similarly, Pat Abella in his second solo exhibition, “Poetry of the Earth” aims to do the same. That is, to not only showcase the infinite beauty of his flora and fauna through his delicate mixed media and goldleaf pieces but also manifest to his viewers, the authentic joy of his subjects — as representing a multitude of feelings and emotions or symbolisms of aspirational qualities. Abella draws inspiration from Rebirth or new life representing physical or spiritual beginnings.
It is in the belief that transformation and change are a natural part of life that Abella’s pieces truly leave their mark. His subjects prove that beauty can be found everywhere.

While his first solo exhibition, “Pervasive Sense of Calm” underscored the power of tranquility, this, his second show does that and more. This collection of works highlights the Earth’s wonders and depict a continuous celebration of life and how everything is connected.
Pat Abella (b. 1996) is graduate of Far Eastern University with a degree in medical technology. Even with his academic background, Pat has been consistently active in the art scene by participating in various group shows in the metro since 2018. He has been exhibiting mostly works on paper that feature floral, avian and feminine enticement, with touches of gold leaf as an expansion of his oeuvre. When he is not working as a medical writer, he creates art and facilitates workshops in different universities. This is his second solo exhibition following “Pervasive Sense of Calm” at Galerie Stephanie.
