PHILIPPINE Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) chairman Junie E. Cua has vowed to collaborate this year with more institutions focused on the welfare of vulnerable children.
“There are many institutions catering to our vulnerable sectors, particularly children, who need support. Makakaasa po ang mga kababayan natin na sa taon na ito ay tututukan natin ang mga ito (We will focus on helping more children this year),” Cua said.
Cua recently visited the Philippines’ first SOS Children’s Village in Lipa, Batangas.
During the said visit, he expressed his commitment to engage in more collaborative projects supporting the organization’s children-focused programs.
SOS Children’s Villages is an international, non-governmental organization focused on supporting children without parental care, as well as families at risk.
Cua highlighted the role that the PCSO’s Institutional Partnership Program (IPP) can play in helping children and other vulnerable sectors.
“We are able to assist and support various welfare institutions and charitable medical facilities across the country through the IPP. Pipilitin po natin na mas marami pa ang makinabang na organisasyon dito upang madagdagan din ang mga batang naaalagaan natin (We will do our best to include more organizations under our programs so more children can be taken cared of),” he said.
Through the IPP, the PCSO grants P300,000 to qualified organizations to help finance charity services to poor and marginalized sectors in local communities.
In 2022, the PCSO assisted 62 institutions for a total amount of P28.3 million.
