THE Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) gave away 1,000 food packs to indigent residents of Parañaque City recently.
“Regular po kaming nagiikot sa mga komunidad sa bansa upang kahit paano’y makatulong sa mga pangangailangan ng ating mga kababayan (We have been doing regular rounds of communities in the country to check on the needs of our people and to distribute goods that will help them),” PCSO chairman Junie E. Cua said.
The distribution of goods was done at the Parañaque Sports Complex last June 14. With Cua were Parañaque Mayor Eric Olivarez, Rep. Gus Tambunting, and other officials of the agency and local government.
Cua said the Community Outreach Program is consistent with the PCSO’s mandate to provide charitable and social services to the poor and vulnerable sectors in the country.
“Bahagi po ito ng aming Rear, Assist, Inspire, Support and Enhance o RAISE Program sa ilalim ng Corporate Social Responsibility projects ng ahensya (This is part of our RAISE program under the agency’s Corporate Social Responsibility projects,” Cua said.
He added that over the years, the PCSO has consistently helped depressed communities especially during times of disaster.
“Sa pamamagitan nitong programang ito, nais maipadama ng pamahalaan under the leadership of our President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. ang pagmamahal at pagkalinga sa ating mga kababayan (These programs are President Ferdinand Marcos Jr’s ways of showing his low and care for the people),” Cua said.
“Asahan po ninyo na patuloy nating isasagawa ang Community Outreach Program para mas marami pang kababayan natin ang matulungan (I assure the public that the PCSO will sustains its Community Outreach Program so it can give help and support to more Filipinos),” the chairman also said.
The PCSO allotted P8,997,325.00 for various beneficiaries under its CSR initiatives last year. Its activities included food pack distribution, provision of hygiene kits, medical equipment, and mobility devices to the elderly, among others.
