MSD in the Philippines, known as Merck & Co., Inc., Kenilworth, N.J., U.S.A in the United States and Canada, announced that the healthcare company is providing PhP 7.2 million (150,000 USD) for COVID-19 relief to the local communities.
MSD has committed Php 7.2 million (US$150,000) to support COVID-19 response efforts in the Philippines through global humanitarian partner organizations — Americares, Direct Relief and Project HOPE. Our donations will help support these NGO partners in providing needed medical supplies, equipment and training for health care workers as well as assisting local COVID-19 vaccination campaigns and efforts to help control and prevent infection among vulnerable communities.
MSD’s latest contribution marks the company’s ongoing efforts to support COVID-19 relief measures in the Philippines. Since March 2020, MSD in the Philippines has partnered both with government and non-government institutions in a collective effort to respond to the pandemic.
“The COVID-19 pandemic is an unrivaled scientific and global health challenge. As a company with a long legacy of research in infectious diseases, we recognize that we have a responsibility to help,” says Dr. Beaver Tamesis, President and Managing Director of MSD in the Phiippines.
Engaging with local communities will help in better understanding them which can facilitate quick assistance to their needs and ease the communities’ healing. MSD in the Philippines is committed to support the equitable recovery, and address the health, social and economic inequities of communities heavily impacted by the pandemic.
