Pastry chef-mom Lovely Jiao, the innovator behind Sugarplum Pastries’ head-turning eight-foot dessert towers, lighted anti-gravity cakes and plumgineered twirly whirly rotating toppers, introduces a series of flamboyant sweets in time for Mother’s Day.

Chef Lovely housed her bestselling treats in dainty containers. The Veronica and Sonia Gift Boxes comes with luscious truffles, chocolate macarons, meringue kisses and bite-sized marshmallows, a special Mom sugar cookie and two Hearty Surprise smash chocolates.

Veronica, named after her grandmother, houses cheesecake shortcrusts, choquares and mini donuts.

Sonia, dedicated to her mother, features delicate heart chocolates. A complimentary wooden mallet treats the ladies into an equally sweet yet fun activity.

“I distinctly remember the aroma of toasted pinipig in the kitchen as I sneaked in to steal some of Grandma’s freshly baked polvoron that was — and still is — beloved by the whole clan,” she beamed. “And my Mom, she was the one who first taught me how to roll breads and I believe I would not be in the dessert industry have it not been for her.”

Chef Lovely likewise ensures that her creations are designed to complete an intimate and hearty Mother’s Day feast. It may be the simple, yet elegant Beatifloral Cheesecake or the snow globe look-alike Cheesecake To Remember that comes with macarons, meringues, donuts, truffles, and chocolate bars. For a more extravagant piece, opt for the foot-tall caramelized Cream Puff Tower Story.

Coined as Do With Mom, the crowd-favorite season-inspired cookie-do sets are curated to let the beloved women channel their inner creativity. The exciting kit is complete with D.I.Y sugar cookies and colored piping bags in purple, pink and yellow, as well as a variety of sprinkles and palatable décors such as ribbons and flowers.

Chef Lovely stands by her philosophy: no to boring desserts. Being a doting single mom of 12-year-old Jakin, she understands that moms need their sacred me time.

Armed with her culinary degree from the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, backed up by experience at the Makati Shangri-La and F1 Hotel Taguig, the baker, instead of climbing the ladder in the hotel kitchen industry, decided to become a hands-on mom for her growing son. In 2011, Chef Lovely established her very own brand and launched Sugarplum Pastries.
