THE Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) helped more than 70,000 Filipinos under its Medical Access Program (MAP) totaling an estimated P450 million for the third quarter of the year.
PCSO chairman Junie E. Cua said this brings to P1.212 billion the total medical assistance that the government has released to 185,727 Filipinos and their families for this year alone.
Last year, the PCSO released P1,395,310,206.43 in MAP assistance to 210,731 beneficiaries.
Cua said the PCSO remains committed towards improving its services, particularly its medical assistance and other social service programs.
“Bilang flagship program ng PCSO, pursigido po talaga kami na paramihin pa ang kababayan nating nakikinabang sa MAP (We are working hard to improve the services that we offer to the public through the MAP, which is PCSO’s flagship program,” he said.
The MAP has been providing critical assistance especially to families who have members who undergo dialysis, chemotherapy and other treatments for various illnesses),” he added.
Cua also expressed his gratitude to Filipinos who patronize PCSO games, saying their participation is crucial in ensuring there are funds for the PCSO’s programs.
The PCSO is mandated to designate 30 percent of its revenues for its charity fund, 55 percent for prizes, and 15 percent for its operations.
