AFTER sweeping the pool stage, College of St. Benilde tries to oust San Sebastian College in the knockout quarterfinals of the V-League Women’s Collegiate Challenge today at the Paco Arena in Manila.
The Lady Blazers collide with the Lady Golden Stags at 3 p.m. before Adamson University faces University of Santo Tomas at 5 o’clock.
CSB rose as the top-seeded crew in Pool B with a 3-0 card, while San Sebastian went winless in three matches.
The Taft-based squad finished the group stage on a high after blanking University of the Philippines 25-13, 25-21, 25-10 last Oct. 28.
“Happy naman na nasa top kami. Iyon, masaya naman kami na every game nananalo kami,” Lady Blazers assistant coach Jay Chua said.
“Iyon naman yung goal namin kada naglalaro kami which is manalo,” he added.
The Lady Stags dropped a 25-15, 14-25, 10-25, 16-25 loss to Far Eastern University 12 days ago.
Skipper Mycah Go, Jade Gentapa, Michelle Gamit, Gayle Pascual, and Cloanne Mondonedo will be counted upon by CSB.
Kath Santos, Kristine Dionisio, Tina Marasigan, Amaka Tan, and team captain Alex Sison will lead San Sebastian.
The Lady Falcons and the Golden Tigresses also fight for a semifinals slot and join Ateneo and the Fighting Maroons.
Adamson ended the group outing of Pool A as the second seed with a 2-1 mark, while UST closed its Pool B campaign at third with a 1-2 record.
The San Marcelino-based squad fell short in its last pool stage match, losing 21-25, 23-25, 25-19, 27-25, 14-16 to the Blue Eagles last Oct. 28.
UST beat San Beda University 25-12, 25-19, 25-17 the last time out.
“Kailangan pa naming mai-tama iyong mga lapses namin,” Lady Tigresses strategist Kungfu Reyes said. “At least, nandoon kami sa top three ng bracket namin and luckily may chance pa kami maka-recover.”
The Lady Falcons will rely on Kate Santiago, Trisha Tubu, Lorene Toring, Lucille Almonte, and team captain Louie Romero
Ypril Tapia, skipper KC Galdones, Camille Victoria, Pierre Abellana, and Ysa Jimenez will carry the fight for UST.
In men’s play, FEU takes on UP at 10 a.m., while National University tackles La Salle at 1 p.m.
