Floral arrangement has long been considered an artform. In Japan, this has been given the name Ikebana and several schools have been developed, each with their own philosophies.

The Sogestu school is one such school and its Philippines arm has been hard at work sharing the artform to others here in the country.

It has been offering a Beginners Ikebana class at Sunshine Place since 2017 and this year, the school now offers its level 2 classes starting January 21, 2023.

Level 2 is a follow up to the Introduction to Ikebana Beginners Workshop. It will include a demonstration/workshop hands-on lessons’ covering review of basic and other additional variations both for moribana and Nageire and selected topics on advance Ikebana lessons.

The workshop will run for four Saturdays until February 11, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. -12:00 noon. A face-to-face lecture-demonstration for those who have completed the Beginners Ikebana Level 1 Workshop will be conducted.

Mr. Marc Tomas, former President of Ikebana International Manila Chapter 108 and member of Sogetsu Potential Manila Chapter will conduct the workshop. Students are encouraged to bring their own gardening scissors, kenzan, vertical and horizontal base used in Level 1.
