The recent Kids Kitchen Cook Off, organized by SM Supermarket and Savemore Market, showcased the talents of young chefs at the SM City San Lazaro event center with fun- filled activities and delicious culinary creations.
Janae Malacao was crowned the SM Kids Kitchen Junior Star Chef, earning a shopping spree worth P50,000 and a trip for four to Boracay. She stood out among the 11 other talented young chefs who competed after a rigorous selection process while Mica Abella secured the 1st runner up position winning P25,000 worth of shopping money, and Mathea Cuyugan brought home P15,000 as the second runner up.
The first round involved wrapping Turon, with Suhana Lalwani, Jamie Bonilla, Mica Abella, and Janae Malacao standing out. The remaining contestants faced the Mystery Box Challenge in which five kids who guessed the hidden item correctly advanced to the second round. In the second round, Mica Abella, Janae Malacao, and Mathea Cuyugan impressed the judges with their creative snack boards.
The final round featured a sandwich-making challenge, with the top three finalists showcasing their skills. Special awards were also given, including the Mama’s Bet award to Sylvannah Garcia, the Fan Favorite Top 3 award to Janae Malacao, Suhana Lalwani, and Jian Claire Babina, and Nestle-Maggie’s Most Onederful Kid award to Mica Abella. They were awarded by the Kids Kitchen ambassadors: Mommy Diaries PH, Mommy O from Team Ogad, Mommy Bee from The Velis Fam, and Mommy GL.
The event also offered discounts, promos, and freebies, and provided fun activities for families and friends to enjoy. The competition marked the beginning of a journey for these aspiring chefs, emphasizing the value of friendship.
