Transcending popularity and piercing the realm of cultural importance, icons are people, objects or even historical moments that symbolize a specific era or concept.
Icons shape our collective memory and become representative of larger ideas or movements. Figures like Elvis, Martin Luther King Jr., or symbols like the peace sign or the Statue of Liberty bring forth specific emotions and resonate with people from different cultures and generations, making their mark on us collectively and even individually.
Icons play a role in shaping our cultural identity by reflecting our values, beliefs, and aspirations as a society. They serve as reminders of our past such as our childhood and youth, and also have the power to inspire change. Icons are timeless and celebrated even after its introduction during a certain time or era.
Celebrating various icons that shaped our childhood, from classic cartoon characters, unforgettable TV series, beloved movies, to masterpieces by renowned artists, artist Carlo Ongchangco’s playfulness shines through as he pays homage to familiar characters and personalities in his signature style. Each piece captures the essence of joy, wonder, and imagination, transporting us back to simpler times filled with laughter and adventure.
