The Global Tourism Business Association (GTBA) explored Vietnam’s “timeless charm” last January 16-20, 2024 under its Partnership Exploration Tour (PET). The five-day trip involved traveling around the cities of Hue, Hoi An, and Da Nang, particularly the iconic Ba Na Hills.

“As we have been seeing, there is renewed demand for culture-aligned travels and we have been pushing for Filipinos to see more destinations within the ASEAN neighborhood,” GTBA Chairman and President Michelle Taylan said. “That’s why this Vietnam familiarization tour is a good way to start off the year.”

GTBA members were welcomed to a luxurious stay at the TTC Imperial Hotel in Hue, which served as the capital of the Nguyen Dynasty. The destination offers guests a view of the famous Perfume River and access to historical sites established during the rule of the Nguyen family.

The GTBA team also got to stroll around the ancient streets of Hoi An, and try on the “Ao Dai,” the traditional Vietnamese dress.

“One other thing that we should be promoting, hand-in-hand with tourism, is the craftsmanship showcased in different localities. We see here the distinct culture that Vietnam has by learning more about their textile, the patterns, and how it’s evolved,” Taylan said.

The coffee culture in Vietnam is also something to explore. GTBA members were able to try the signature beverages in the Poison Cafe in Hoi An.

The tourism group spent a major part of the trip visiting the French village in Da Nang. The destination is perfect for those looking for a Euro-centric flavor to their travel within Vietnam. The tourist spot features French architecture and European garden arrangements along Sun World in Ba Na Hills.

Another wonderful spot for tourist couples is the Love Lock Bridge in Da Nang, which offers a majestic view of the city skyline, perfect for proposals and anniversary dates.

“We hope to get more people to come to Vietnam, see these wonders and learn about its rich history as a nation,” Taylan said.
