Galerie Stephanie has an ongoing all-women exhibit showcasing the vibrant and diverse talents of over 30 emerging Filipina artists, as part of it’s celebration of National Women’s Month.
Dubbed “Emerging Out of a Crumbling Flank of Earth,” this exhibit, curated by Gwen Bautista, presents works that tackle themes of solidarity, resilience, and the ongoing struggle against gender-based oppression.
The exhibit title is lifted from Adrienne Rich’s poem “Power,” first published in 1977 as a tribute to the Polish-French scientist Marie Curie and her unparalleled contribution to Science. Both Rich and Curie lived through periods where women were heavily marginalized and overshadowed by their male peers.

With more than 30 artists in this exhibit, Galerie Stephanie hopes that the narratives their works tell will somehow blunt the pain of becoming a woman — to allow them to rise and heal from the inherited collective and generational trauma of living inside patriarchal structures and unlearn any internalized sexism and misogyny.
The message the exhibit imparts: Together, women can gracefully emerge from discrimination and inequality that still hampers their growth.
This exhibit is a testament to the creativity and artistic prowess of young Filipina women, providing a platform for their unique perspectives and artistic voices. The diverse range of styles and mediums on display will offer viewers a compelling glimpse into the future of Philippine contemporary art.
“We are thrilled to present this dynamic collection of works from some of the most promising young Filipina artists today,” says Abby Frias Teotico, managing director at Galerie Stephanie. “This exhibition not only celebrates their achievements but also highlights the collective strength and impact of women in the Philippine art scene.”
“Emerging Out of a Crumbling Flank of Earth” will run until March 30 at Galerie Stephanie, on the 6th Floor, East Wing, Shangri-La Plaza EDSA, corner Shaw Blvd, Mandaluyong City.
