The preparation for the Doraemon and Friends at Ngong Ping 360, a major project, began before James Tung, managing director of Ngong Ping 360 Ltd., took office, and he joined the team in the preparation process about two months ago.
Tung is delighted to have the opportunity to work with his colleagues on this project and strive towards their goals. They arranged a flash mob of Doraemon’s portraits at Ngong Ping, where the entire company came together with 1,500 students and volunteers to achieve this feat. It set the stage for today’s event.
Tung has full confidence in the content of the event, especially over the past two months. He believes everyone has felt the charm of Doraemon. He is a timeless and iconic character in animation and comics that spans generations. His comics and animations have been distributed in dozens of countries and remain immensely popular today.
With the team’s meticulous planning and preparation, they have tailored a series of activities and “photo spots” for Doraemon. For example, they have a giant capsule toy machine and scenes where Doraemon’s friend, Fat Tiger, sings. They are bringing the animated world into reality and introducing new elements, hoping to bring joy and positive energy to their guests.
Since Doraemon is widely popular worldwide, they hope this project will resonate not only with local guests but also attract overseas fans. They aim to contribute to making Hong Kong a city of grand events.
In addition to promoting the event on local online and offline platforms, the Ngong Ping 360 team has made special efforts to enhance international promotion. For example, in the Greater Bay Area, they have partnered with key shopping malls to launch joint promotional activities. They have placed promotional installations in these malls and held presentations with travel partners in the Philippines to introduce the event, hoping to reach more overseas travelers.
Ngong Ping 360 has always been committed to organizing events with different themes as a popular tourist attraction in Hong Kong. They aim to bring a sense of freshness and enrich the travel experience for their guests.
Each summer, they prepare different activities to attract both locals and tourists to visit Ngong Ping 360 during the holiday season. This includes last year’s Rubber Duck and this year’s Doraemon.
Both last year’s and this year’s projects have been citywide events. While the event content, installations, and intellectual properties are different, Tung believes they are equally appealing to both residents and visitors.
They strive to provide unforgettable travel experiences for their guests, and they hope to see an increase in visitor numbers compared to last year.
Ngong Ping 360 has always been open to collaborating with different suitable organizations and institutions to create fresh and appealing activities for residents and visitors. Collaborations with ARR have allowed them to experience boundless creativity, and the ARR team’s execution capabilities have added vibrancy to the events in which Ngong Ping 360 participated.
If the timing and theme align, they welcome any organizations and institutions to collaborate with them.
Ngong Ping 360 is constantly exploring more attractive activities. They will announce the content of the next project at the appropriate time.
The various Doraemon-related events happening in different locations are seen as opportunities to create a festive atmosphere and bring joy to both residents and visitors. Rather than considering it competition, they believe it is a collaborative effort that brings better promotional benefits.
The installations and activities of their “100% Doraemon & FRIENDS @ Ngong Ping 360” are unique to Ngong Ping. For example, the themed cable car, the giant capsule toy machine in the background, the Fat Tiger singing scene in the open space, and the charity “100% Friends Summoning Bell” set. They believe these elements will be highly appealing to their guests.
Ngong Ping 360 is offering an exclusive promotion for Filipino travelers. From June 19 to December 31, 2024, Filipino visitors can present their passports at the Holiday 360 Information Centre at Ngong Ping Village to collect discount coupons (15 percent off on selected products at Ngong Ping 360 retail shops and tenants).
