Aner Sebastian is a renowned visionary. His body of work is defined through masterful practice of stylized abstraction, igniting prismatic and iridescent illustrations of the natural world. For the artist, nature is the quintessential phenomena that keeps all beings grounded; its development is and will always be essential to the growth and continuity of its inhabitants.
Aner’s works for “Enlightened”, his 15th solo exhibition, depict psychic manifestations of what nature would appear like in a state of utopia. The works are presented in a transcendent and euphoric assemblage of abstract imagery — further challenging boundless interpretations of the world’s splendid creations. The artist has carefully mastered this art style; the composition of ornate shapes, multicolored earth tones, and linear movements portray an exciting manifestation of nature’s psyche; establishing an otherworldly metaphor of organic environment.
In essence, the exhibit hopes to deliver notions of a life experienced and supported by nature. “Nature supports life — the aspect of strengthening every living thing’s subsistence and enduring presence,” the artist states. Aner Sebastian continuously advocates the importance of nature, vicariously fulfilled through his artistic craft.
Aner Sebastian’s works are recognizable through the subject and style that have remained consistent through the years, but going though further refinement and enrichment, without being self-indulgent, despite the temptation of the subject to go over-the-top. Viewed from a distance, his works partake of an Impressionist sensibility, filling our eyes with seeming daubs of paint, but moving perceptively closer to our vision as illusionistic encrustations of colors suggestive of nature in a melange of changing seasons. His straight and thin curvilinear lines joyously animate the space of tranquility and quiet splendor, and as a consequence, the works are more resonantly alive with nature’s delight and pleasure.
