Anyone who wants to learn how to write stories for young audience is invited to attend How to Write Children’s Stories at Sunshine Place.

It is a crash course on story writing for a young audience based on the syllabus created by Dr. Joem Antonio, a Filipino children’s book author and eight-time Palanca Award winner. He has a Ph.D. in Creative Writing from UP Diliman and teaches graduate students of the MA Humanities Program at the University of Asia and the Pacific.

Dr. Antonio will teach participants how to build stories in steps and stages they’ll be able to replicate outside of class.

The course includes lectures on determining specific audiences in children’s literature, story design principles, and exercises to help quickly build children’s stories. Participants will leave with guidelines for engaging both children and adult readers, as well as tools for ensuring the story’s language is suitable for children.

The two-session course follows closely after the success of batch 1. It is scheduled on August 3 and 10, 2024 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
