Beating the odds during the pandemic

Haydee Soriano Bacani , succeeded and emerged as the Board topnotcher in the recently concluded Nursing Board examinations conducted by the Philippine regulatory commission.

All first time takers from PWU School of nursing passed the same licensure exams.Considering the uncertainties brought about by the pandemic, online classes and flexible learning the group was undaunted.

Haydee initiated several programs as approved by the university president
one of which was “rapid response and code blue” attended by more than 1000 participants worldwide streamed through the PWU official page.

Focused, unshaken by the circumstances they were in Haydee said it was grit and the willingness to serve to make a difference saw them through.

The 102 years old institution and now with its 10th president continue to foster the vision of the founders.

In 1919, seven women had a dream, to provide the Filipino women then with the best education, to prepare them for moral and civic responsibility and train them to successfully combine homemaking and career.

Haydee’s future plans include taking post graduate studies while working in a hospital and going into research. The heart to serve for the betterment of lives inspires her to beat all odds and hopes that she can be an inspiration to the next generation.
