As the country is recovering from the pandemic, organizations involved in the promotion and preservation of culture are gearing up for a more productive year. One of these entities is the Bayanihan, the National Folk-Dance Company of the Philippines.

This year, Bayanihan has scheduled three major events namely: Sayaw Summer Workshop; a season production; and Fiesta Folkloriada.

Sayaw Summer Workshop will have two batches: Batch 1 that will run from May 11 to June 3, 2023; and Batch 2, from July 10 to July 22, 2023. Participants to the workshop will learn the dances, songs, and music of the Bayanihan. The workshop will have a culminating show at the historic Metropolitan Theater in Manila.

On August 25 and 26, 2023, the audience will have the opportunity to appreciate Bayanihan’s dynamic repertory depiction of Philippine life in dance and music as the dance company showcases its season production.

Meanwhile, Fiesta Folkoriada which will be held from December 4-9, 2023 is now on its 17th year. It is a festival that gathers dance companies from different countries to bring culture and education through music and dance. A project of the Bayanihan Folk Arts Foundation, it is Bayanihan’s contribution to strengthen peace and respect for other nations’ customs and traditions.
