The Chinese New Year is just around the corner. As the country gears up for one of the most important events in the Lunar calendar, Marriott Manila joins the festivities with a variety of auspicious dishes that can be enjoyed at Man Ho, the hotel’s well-respected Chinese restaurant.

Poon choi traditionally signifies abundance. It is an auspicious treasure pot is traditionally eaten layer by layer and is filled with the most-prized ingredients such as abalone, fish maw, black mushroom, dried scallops, prawns, roasted duck, chicken, pork, and vegetables bathed in flavorful broth. Best enjoyed eating communal style, this one-pot dish feast is good for five persons.

Lohei is another celebratory dish with a special emphasis on diner participation. It is a mixed salad using ingredients which symbolize good fortune — carrots for good luck, white radish for good job opportunities, salmon for abundance, golden crackers for wealth, and more. These ingredients are then combined by the diners by mixing and tossing. It is said that the higher the ingredients are mixed and lifted, the more prosperity it is purported to bring.

Lunar New Year celebrations are never complete without niangao or locally known as tikoy as it is considered good luck to give and receive. This delicacy has been a staple in every household during the Lunar New Year as it represents harmony and joy. Man Ho’s tikoy gift set for P1,088nett comes with one ingot or gold bar tikoy and six canele tikoy encased in a gold can.

All 3 dishes are available at Man Ho until February 1, 2022 for dine-in, takeaway, and delivery. For delivery orders, delivery charge applies and a 24-hour advance order is required. Club Marriott members gets 20% off while Resorts World and Marriott Bonvoy members gets 10% off.
