The pandemic has hit people hard and many have opted to focus in the essentials. However, it is because of the need to nourish the soul as well as the body that art should not be left by the wayside. As artists continue to their work to bring some joy and beauty in the lives of people, they also come together to support one another in times of need.

The UP artist community will be opening ArtGifts on December 4 at the UP Fine Arts, Gallery Two. This annual event is an onsite and online exhibit-sale of drawings, paintings, prints, photographs, illustrations, digital art, sculptures, ceramics, pottery, objects and other small works produced during this time of the lockdown.

As this happens during the time of the Covid-19 pandemic and the university’s first online semester in history, it will feature works that resonate with the themes of hope, solidarity, and sharing during such challenging times. As with the past seven years, proceeds of the sales will go to supporting the Faculty Development Program of the college which also now quietly supports colleagues in need.
