TECH maker realme Philippines recently contributed to the rehabilitation efforts of the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), a notable non-governmental organization dedicated to animal rights and well-being. In collaboration with local pet supplies brand Petsup, the companies collectively donated P200,000 in monetary aid, along with P50,000 worth of realme products and an additional P50,000 worth of Petsup items.
Representatives from realme Philippines and Petsup visited the PAWS headquarters in Quezon City on April 30 to personally deliver the donations and gain insight into the organization’s operations. PAWS expressed gratitude for the donations, highlighting their importance in supporting programs such as the rehabilitation of animal shelters and rescue efforts for animals facing cruelty and neglect.
Sharon Yap, PAWS Education Officer, emphasized the significance of helping animals in need, stating, “Usually, people say that only animals can love you unconditionally. [By] helping these animals, you’ll see in their eyes that they are not damaged goods, and they need people like you to help them support their rehabilitation.”
Yap also stressed the importance o f responsible pet ownership, including practices like spaying and neutering, and encouraged individuals to donate their time by volunteering at the organization if monetary donations were not feasible.
Patricia Gonzales, realme Philippines’ Communications Lead, expressed hope that the collaborative initiative would inspire others to take action against animal cruelty in the country. Gonzales stated, “Our collaboration with Petsup and PAWS shows our commitment to fostering a community that values empathy and kindness towards animals. We hope that our donation, especially the brand new units of realme Note 50, will help streamline the activities and efforts of PAWS.”
