The University of Santo Tomas has a storied history of artists. The Distinguished is a new exhibition aims to show the works of the school’s modern-day masters such as Angelito Antonio, Antonio Austria, Tam Austria, Andres Barrioquinto, Rosario Bitanga, Remy Boquiren, Joe Datuin, Fil Delacruz, India Dela Cruz, Anita del Rosario, Edgar Doctor, Jess Flores, Raul Isidro, Willy Layug, Derrick Macutay, Nemi Miranda, Justin Nuyda, and Ramon Orlina.

These artists are not only objectively extraordinary, but are also influential in the artistic community, be it be painting, printmaking, or sculpture as their mode of expression. More so, their rise to fame from being an upcoming artist to the present is an testament of continued outpouring passion to sustain relevance in which their successes serve as inspiration to many.

The exhibition is presented in virtue of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) by the UST Atelier Alumni Association Inc. (UST-AAAI) under the tutelage of Ms. Marissa Pe Yang, in partnership with the Office for Alumni Relations (UST OAR) and the mother alumni UST Alumni Association Inc. (UST-AAI).

The selection process started in 2018 and undergone a stringent panel of screening committee from the university. It is a endeavor on the progression of the art and design industry in the country and beyond to create a blueprint for everyone with the same passion to follow.

As the art world is continuously evolving, innovating, and becoming competitive, it becomes a marathon of sorts; but values should remain. The characteristics of distinct discipline, hard work, dedication, and determination are engraved and reflected in the works of these masters we should emulate as they are testaments and yardsticks of longevity and success in the industry.

The DISTINGUISHED: All Thomasian Atelier Exhibition will be on view until May 12, 2022 at the ArtistSpace located at Ground Level, Ayala Museum Annex, Makati Avenue corner De La Rosa Street, Greenbelt Park, Makati City.
