Adding British flair to Japanese subtlety

Uniqlo has long been known to partner with different fashion designers to create special fashion lines within the brand and the Uniqlo: C Fall/Winter collection is no exception.

Named after designer Clare Waight Keller, the LifeWear line is a collaboration between the two, resulting in a collection that is both elegant and approachable.

A respected name in the haute couture circles, Keller was the first artistic director of French brand Givenchy, dressing up stars such as Cate Blanchett, Rachel Weisz, and Charlize Theron. She was also the designer of the wedding gown worn by Meghan Markle at her wedding with Prince Harry in 2018.

Focusing on womenswear, Keller’s core design philosophy dips into elements that portray fluidity, motion, and femininity. Her collaboration with Uniqlo is tailor-made with both comfort and functionality in mind.

Designed for every modern woman on-the-go, the Uniqlo: C features timeless wardrobe essentials like coats, sweaters, skirts, pants, and dresses that are made more elevated through a beautiful combination of Waight Keller’s effortlessly chic designs and UNIQLO’s signature LifeWear technology.

“I am honored to have been asked to create a new label for Uniqlo. I have long appreciated its LifeWear design philosophy of technical innovation and functional authenticity. I have always admired the Japanese aesthetic of subtlety, simplicity and detailed perfection, so working with the Uniqlo team to craft a new sensibility for my womenswear collection on such a global scale is a truly exciting opportunity,” Keller said in a statement.

Under the new collection, classic pieces are revisited and revived. The classic trench coat is transformed into a four-season gabardine twill. There is also a heat-pressed pleated maxi skirt made of soft luster satin in rich autumn tones. Fluid skirts and dresses under Keller’s collection also come in delicate micro-floral and paisley prints.

The brand said these can be matched with a collection of relaxed sweaters, shrunken cardigans and zipped boyfriend pullovers for an effortless yet chic daily wear.

“Uniqlo: C marks an exciting new chapter in the design of Uniqlo women’s wear. I believe Clare’s wealth of experience and her designs that fully appreciate the modern woman will usher in a new standard of LifeWear for women,” Yukihiro Katsuta, Fast Retailing Group Senior Executive Officer and Head of R&D for Uniqlo, said in a statement.

The Uniqlo: C collection is now available online and onsite at the Uniqlo Manila Global Flagship Store, SM Megamall, C3 Annex, Westgate Alabang, and via select items in all other branches.
