Aboitiz Land continues to leave a lasting legacy in grassroots communities through its groundbreaking Elevate AIDA project, a program that empowers women with essential digital literacy skills and remote job opportunities in AI Data Annotation (AIDA).

What started as Aboitiz Land’s run in San Juan, Batangas and Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija has now spread to be a multi-site movement, with successful training already done in Liloan, Cebu, and recent graduation ritesin Compostela, Cebu on April 14.

Elevate AIDA is an online skills development program aimed at building sustainable community development. Aboitiz Land, with the collaboration of the Aboitiz Foundation Inc., Connected Women, and the Municipality of Liloan, seeks to bring new career opportunities in the digital economy to women in underprivileged communities.

The initiative targets training women in AI data annotation to fill the technology skill gap and provide sustainable job opportunities. It also imparts digital literacy and financial empowerment to the participants through remote employment.

The programme employs a replicable model that can be rolled out across various communities, addressing the needs of the local economy.

“At Aboitiz Land, our partnership with Elevate AIDA reflects our commitment to innovative ways of living by empowering Cebuano women with the digital skills they need to thrive—because when we uplift women, we uplift entire communities.” said Farrah Mayol, senior assistant vice president of customer reputation management.

On April 14, Compostela, Cebu celebrated as Batch 57 completed the Elevate AIDA Project, marking a significant advancement in economic empowerment for women in the community.

The graduates have acquired specialized AI data annotation capabilities, positioning them strategically for remote work opportunities in the expanding digital economy.

Mary Joy Medilla Mabida topped the batch exemplifying the program’s transformative impact on local talent development.

For Mabida, a homemaker and mother of two from Cogon, Compostela, the initiative represented a  pivotal professional opportunity.

“This training didn’t just teach me how to work remotely, it helped me step into my potential,” she said during the ceremony.

“Before the training, I had zero experience with AI and data annotation. And I’m excited to join the training in upskilling and to get hired in Connected Women,” she added.

The success of the Compostela batch highlights the program’s capacity to effect genuine change. Elevate AIDA was a finalist in the League of Corporate Foundations Guild Awards for Outstanding CSR Project in July 2024.

As Aboitiz Land expands this strategic initiative across multiple locations, the company continues to demonstrate its commitment to creating sustainable economic pathways for women through technology.

The Compostela graduation follows successful implementations in Liloan, Cebu, San Juan, Batangas, and Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija.
