The Pokemon universe has become one of the world’s most iconic intellectual property, with many game versions across multiple platforms. One of the earliest spinoffs was a trading card game based on the original Gameboy game released in 1996. The Pokemon card game gained a life of its own, becoming a cultural phenomenon with some cards being sold at high prices.
The Pokémon Company and co-developers Creatures Inc. and DeNA Co., Ltd. takes the card game into the new horizon with the launch of Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, the Pokémon Trading Card Game app for mobile devices. It is now available on both the Apple App store and Google Play and users can pre-register in preparation for the game’s release on October 30.
Users can build their collection over time as they are allowed to open two free packs daily and find their favorite Pokémon cards. Players can open booster packs by consuming the pack stamina, which accumulates over time. After 12 hours, players will have enough pack stamina to open a single pack.
In Wonder Pick mode, users can get one of the cards (chosen randomly) from a booster pack that was opened by another player. In addition, if someone wonder picks from a booster pack obtained by a player playing in another language, they can get a card in a different language. Cards in other languages will also be registered in the card deck.
Users can show off their favorite cards on display boards and binders. There are a variety of backdrops available to create that perfect look. users can share display boards and binders of their card collection to friends or other players. They can also look at display boards and binders shared by friends and other players and like them.
The online version of the trading card game has also been optimized for mobile devices. The size of decks have been changed from 60 cards to 20 cards, and attaching the Energy used for attacks from the Energy Zone, making each match go faster. Gamers can earn points each time they Knock Out the opponent’s Pokémon. Players will continue taking turns, and the first player to reach three points wins.
At the same time, the deep strategic elements of the Pokémon TCG are still present, such as choosing which attack your Pokémon will use and deciding the right timing for using Trainer cards. Users can battle against the computer, friends, or anyone around the world in casual or serious battles that can be played during their downtime.
In order to enjoy battles in the Pokémon TCG more casually, features such as auto-battling, Rental Decks, and Auto-build have been prepared.
Players can use auto battling and let the computer help them in the battle. Also, obtaining certain cards allows players to use rental decks, so even players who don’t understand how to build decks can feel at ease while enjoying battling. Additionally, there is a feature that will automatically build a recommended deck using the cards you have collected, so anyone can begin enjoying casual battles.
