MAKATI, PHILIPPINES – Prominent legal figure and DivinaLaw founder Atty. Nilo T. Divina has been elected to the Board of Trustees of Museo del Galeón, Inc., marking a strategic addition as the cultural institution prepares for its 2026 public opening.
Divina, known for his selective approach to board appointments, accepted the role citing the museum’s non-profit mission and efforts to preserve Philippines’ maritime heritage. His law firm, DivinaLaw, will simultaneously serve as the museum’s official legal counsel under a newly formalized partnership.
The appointment strengthens an already distinguished board chaired by Ambassador Carlos C. Salinas, with Doris Magsaysay-Ho as President and Dr. Jaime C. Laya as Treasurer. Other board members include Gloria M. Angara, Gerardo A. Borromeo, Dr. Lydia B. Echauz, Dr. Carlos Madrid Álvarez-Piñer, Enrique K. Razon Jr., Alfredo P. Roca, and Hans T. Sy.
Divina’s election comes as the museum accelerates preparations for its public debut, which will showcase the legacy of the historic Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade. The museum aims to deepen understanding of this significant maritime heritage connecting the Philippines to global history.
The timing positions the museum to leverage Divina’s decades of legal expertise and commitment to nation-building as it moves toward its landmark opening.
