St. Luke’s Medical Center (SLMC) commemorated its 117th anniversary with a weeklong celebration through virtual ceremonies, webinars, and a medical mission. The anniversary celebration launched the hospital’s renewed mission, vision and values (MVV) in light of the new experiences learned from the pandemic.

Care is at the core of St. Luke’s. It is the culture of care that defines the institution for the past 117 years.

“We celebrate not only the 117th anniversary of St. Luke’s, but likewise, an important milestone that will significantly determine our direction in the years to come,” said SLMC president Dr. Art De La Peña in his speech during the MVV launch.

SLMC’s renewed mission and vision continue to highlight the hospital’s call to delivering a compassionate and patient-centered experience. The hospital’s 117 years long existence culminates with the excellence and innovation being fostered by its healthcare professionals. The hospital’s management, together with all their associates, envision the hospital to be the unparalleled leader in patient-care, clinical outcomes, research and education.

As a way of giving back, the hospital also pledged to donate tablets and pocket wifi devices to marginalized students in need of online learning support.

“We may not be able to be with each other in person, but I know that we are and will always one in vision, united in our mission, and committed to our shared values that make St. Luke’s family is one and strong,” said Dr. De La Peña at the end of his speech.
