The new decade marks the start of the construction of a state-of-the-art private hospital in Region I, the Ilocos Doctors Medical Center (IDMC). To be situated in Magsingal, Ilocos Sur, conceptualization on the establishment of IDMC commenced in the last quarter of 2019 which has a budget of 1.5 billion pesos.
Upon finishing of construction, IDMC will be the 36th hospital in Ilocos Sur but the first in the region with world-class facility. Given its location, IDMC considers as its main catchment areas including nearby municipalities of San Juan, Cabugao, Sto. Domingo, and San Ildefonso. However, it will also cater the general population of Ilocos, but devoted the better part of its capacity towards providing medical services to the indigent sector of the population.
This 10,000-square meter facility was designed by the architectural firm Expo Manila. It will be consistent with DOH guidelines and eyeing a Level III accreditation. With 200-bed capacity, it will have medical excellence, healthcare professionals, and latest technology as its core products and services. The hospital will provide primary care along with emergency and a referral system to outpatient and inpatient services for medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and surgery. This referral system will be set up for all primary, infirmary and secondary health facilities in the province and in the entire region. IDMC will also provide nursing services, clinical laboratory, radiology, cardiac rehabilitation center, endoscopy unit, hemodialysis services, marine medical services, pain management facilities, and pharmacy services.
Groundbreaking ceremony graced by Mr. Luis Crisologo “Chavit” Singson, Mayor of Narvacan and former Ilocos Sur Governor was held last December 30, 2019 as a ceremonial event that marked the official beginning of IDMC construction.
