Singapore’s storied Tiong Bahru – once the first public housing project of the country, has become a foodie’s destination, known for the high-quality restaurants which has made the area its home.
One of the establishments that has made a name for itself is Tiong Bahru Bakery (TBB), an artisanal French bakery which burst into the scene in 2012. With 21 outlets in the Lion City, its viennoiseries quickly became a byword among lovers of baked products. (Viennoiseries are French baked goods made from a yeast-leaned dough in a manner similar to baked bread, or from a puff pastry but with added ingredients which give them a richer, sweeter taste. — Ed.)

Tiong Bahru’s legendary croissants are now in Manila as TBB opened its first international branch in partnership with Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) at Bonifacio global City. The new branch, located at the ground floor of Verve Residences Tower 2 along 27th St. is designed as a community hub, offering indoor and al fresco seating where guests can savor the finest French bakes while watching the bakers at work through a glass window.

At the heart of its menu is the classic croissant –golden and flaky on the outside, with a rich buttery aroma and mouthfeel in every bite. Each batch is baked every two hours to ensure utmost freshness.

Another highlight is the Kouign Amann with its caramelized layers of buttery richness. Chocolate lovers will relish the Pain Au Chocolat with its buttery layers and a generous dark chocolate filling, making it perfect with coffee.
The lemon tart is for those who prefer a fruity treat. It has a delicate sugar dough crust, velvety lemon curd filling, and a hint of fresh lemon zest.

Aside from sweet treats, TBB also offers savory sandwiches and pies such as the Jambon Buerre, a French ham sandwich made of a baguette sliced open, slathered with butter, and filled with slices of ham.
There are also quiches, a French tart filled with a savory custard and pieces of cheese, meat, seafood, or vegetables. These are best paired with freshly brewed coffee made from sustainable sourced beans, produced by Common Man Coffee Roasters.
Tiong Bahru Bakery’s signature coffee blend has notes of dark chocolate, roasted nuts, and cherries, ideal for espresso drinks. For a twist, try the nutty Hojicha Latte.
Tiong Bahru Bakery is more than just exceptional bakes and coffee, it is a place where communities come together. Whether you’re meeting friends, enjoying a quiet moment, or catching up with colleagues, TBB offers the perfect setting for every occasion.
