Hendrick’s Gin is one of the most popular modern gin brands and one of its key flavors is cucumber. This gives the gin a refreshing note and a mild sweetness that makes it pair well with other ingredients for cocktails.
To celebrate this unusual ingredient that defined the gin, Hendrick’s celebrates World Cucumber Day every June 14.
“The cucumber has always been our muse, a quiet hero in the Hendrick’s Gin experience. World Cucumber Day is a celebration of its charm and the refreshing oddity that Hendrick’s brings to the glass,” said Charmaine Thio, Southeast Asia regional brand ambassador for Hendrick’s Gin.
During this day, participating bars offer guests a Hendrick’s & Tonic for the price of a single cucumber. The Cucumber Currency Exchange returns to the Philippines with over 50 bars participating in the quirky celebration. From 6-10 p.m., guests can visit the different bars to get an ice-cold glass of G&T simply by exchanging a single cucumber. Thio shared that these cucumbers do not go to waste as the bars can process them to be used as ingredients for cocktails, garnishes, or even snacks to pair with drinks.
In Makati, participating bars include Al Tarboosh, B House, Banter & Jive, Bar 10 Four, Big Fuzz, Bizarre, Curator, Dr. Wine Poblacion, Draft Rockwell, Fat Cat, From Management, Grasshopper, Japonesa, Lampara, Layaw Bar, Mijo Comfort Food, Papillon, Polilya, Project Vino Poblacion, Project Vino Reserve, Spritz Bar, Skyline Sports Bar, The Penthouse 8747, and Tiabuela.
Patrons can exchange their cucumbers in Taguig at Dr Wine BGC, Electric Garden, Fauna MNL, Ipong Manila, Southbank BGC, and The Attic. In Pasay, participating bars include Bar 360, Grand Bar Lounge, The Den PITX, and Whisky Library Meanwhile, those in Muntinlupa can visit Southbank Café and Project Vino Alabang. Those living in Laguna are invited to visit The Den Los Baños and Malaya Los Baños for their drinks.
Those around Pasig can hit up Southbank Estancia, Hakid Manila, Linger Bar, and Joy-Nostalg while those in San Juan can drop by Raion, Eraya, Lounge 207, Three Dots, and Saikou Bar. For those in Marikina, Bar by East and Takore Caffeine Bar are joining the festivities while in Quezon City, visit Cala Cafe, INT. Bar/EXT. Cafe, Wrong Door, and Vitto’s Wine and Restaurant.
Hendrick’s Gin also partnered with Fr Mgmt, Eraya, and Spritz for even more curious encounters. From June 12 to 13, guests of these three bars who purchase two Hendrick’s cocktails will receive a complimentary tarot card reading.
