In October 2019, Clark Marriott Hotel held its inaugural Oktoberfest celebration. The festivities saw free-flowing beer and mounds of German food all for guests to enjoy as AnTon Show entertained guests with unending musical numbers.
However, the pandemic hit the Philippines in early 2020 and life ground to a halt. Two years later, as the new normal has emerged and people are raring to enjoy the good times again, Clark Marriott recently celebrated the return of Oktoberfest, now in a larger venue with more celebrants.
The Oktoberfest celebration was held at the Clark Parade Grounds in partnership with Clark Development Corporation. Over 1000 guests attended the 2-night event last October 7 and 8. “We are privileged to have the opportunity of bringing back the Clark Marriott Octoberfest after a re-launch in 2019,” said Goeran Soelter, Clark Marriott Hotel general manager.
As with any genuine Oktoberfest celebration, revelers were treated to sumptuous German cuisine with the classic Schweinshaxe or German Roasted Pork Knuckle, soft yet crusty pretzels, apple strudels, and mounds upon mounds of different wursts or German sausages. These were all washed down with mugs of beer from Wiehenstephan, Germany’s oldest brewery, with Clark Marriott having 3000 liters in stock during the event.
AnTon show reprised their role at the celebration. They performed traditional German drinking songs as well as party standards and modern hits, bringing the crowd to their feet and ramping up the energy of the festivities. No beer celebration would be complete without a beer drinking contest, with this year’s participants racing to chug down a liter of beer in the quickest time.
“This year’s celebration is our way of welcoming back Clark Marriott Hotel’s loyal customers while reinforcing the ties that bind the brand to our customers since we’ve opened here in Clark,” said Soelter.
