MAKATI Mayor Abby Binay and other city officials graced the Kasuotang Pilipino 2019 Fashion Show, staged at the Activity Center of Ayala Malls Circuit recently.
An annual presentation by the City Government of Makati Museum and Cultural Affairs Office since 2000 to observe Linggo ng Kasuotang Pilipino every third week of September, this year’s theme Banyuhay or Metamorphosis is inspired by the outstanding traits of the people from our major island groups: industry and frugality from Luzon, partying and merrymaking from The Visayas, and love of heritage from Mindanao.
Aimed to revive the Filipino identity in the cosmopolitan city by paying homage to people of regional backgrounds, the event showcased local traditional clothing and fibers.
Through the years, the show has featured city officials, beauty queens, professional models and diplomatic spouses as models.
This year’s spectacle featured Miss Makati 2019 Micah Beatrice Santos, Miss Makati Tourism 2019 Kristina Cassandra Bahaj, Mrs. Rosemarie Sibug and Mrs. Geraldine dela Rosa, as well as professional models in the Luzon. Visayas and Mindanao runway presentations.
The featured designers are: Therese Andaya, Albert Andrada, Ronaldo Arnaldo, Joel Bautista, Janet Castro, Frankie de Leon, Luis De Los Santos, Albert Figueras, Jinggo Inoncillo, Val Taguba and guest Mindanaoan designer Marga Nograles.
The event was staged by Lumina Events and directed by Bernard Yabut Maybituin.
