VISUAL artist Jay Ragma continues his work with symmetry, establishing relationships on various planes and directions using simple and planar lines. “Linear Imaginings” opens Wednesday, September 25, 6 p.m. at Galerie Joaquin Podium. Ragma’s lines are an essential element of his oeuvre, defined as a mark that connects space between two points of view of the artist, taking form along the way.
A line, an outline, or any work that becomes any gauge of location in space is an intentional statement. It reflects what is taking place in the artist’s mind or psyche. For “Linear Imaginings”, Ragma’s underlying colors are solid Reds and Blacks imposing themselves as strong visual elements allowing the viewer to make their own impression even before they are allowed to make any intentional form.
Ragma continues to produce canvases focused solely on explorations of line and directions of lines; lines vibrate with their own life.
“Linear Imaginings” will be on view from September 25 — October 4, 2019 at The gallery located on the 3rd level of The Podium, ADB Avenue, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City.
