‘Emergence of Eden’

“Emergence of Eden” unveils a bold and visceral paradise created by self-taught artist Elie Quial, a solo exhibition highlighting a collection of pieces rich with imagery, emotion and her own philosophy. Her innate curiosity allows her to draw from a deeply personal place, one not hindered by boundaries but by a need to create and explore. The exhibit charts the artist’s journey into abstraction, utilizing raw experimentation that result in works that are unfiltered, organic and alive.

“Each piece begins with wildness,” the artist shares. “I let the chaos speak first.” Through this new collection, viewers are invited to witness a utopia where organic forms and shapes emerge, a visual terrain of vibrance pulsing with emotion and fruits of fierce imagination. Quial’s compositions embody her belief that beauty can emerge from chaos. Her organic forms appear almost otherworldly, teeming with life and in itself its own living ecosystem. She succeeds in painting a world not where one escapes from but rather “rewriting it – through your own hands.”

“Emergence of Eden” is a venue where the artist is able to reconcile her own growth and emergence into herself—not only as an artist, but as a person. It is a process of reclaiming space, of learning to trust her own voice. These works stand as both witness and evidence to that transformation: raw and alive with unfiltered emotion. In creating this imagined paradise from instinct and imperfection, the artist does not seek escape, but rather, embodiment. What emerges is not a retreat from reality, but a deeper rooting into it. This is her Eden—not inherited, but made by her own hand.

Everyday Wonder

Elie Quial is a self-taught multimedia artist whose creative path is rooted in curiosity, movement, and reinvention. She grew up in Borongan City, a vibrant coastal city in the eastern Philippines, surrounded by lush forests, sun-soaked beaches, and vibrant coral gardens—natural landscapes that deeply shaped her love for organic forms, layered textures, and wild beauty. With a background in fashion, hospitality, and the airline industry, Elie has lived and worked in Doha, Calgary, and Abu Dhabi—and has travelled extensively, gathering visual and emotional influences that echo throughout her work.

Her work spans a range of mediums including mixed media on canvas, hand-painted textiles, and large-scale murals. She is drawn to tactile materials and experimental surfaces—blending paint, ink, paper, and fabric to create vibrant, layered compositions that feel both raw and intentional.

Elie continues to explore new surfaces, spaces, and stories—turning fabric, walls, and blank canvases into vivid worlds that reflect both the natural wonder she grew up with and the global journey she continues to walk.  “Emergence of Eden” is her second solo show.

“Emergence of Eden” by Elie Quial runs at Galerie Joaquin BGC until August 10, 2025. Galerie Joaquin BGC is located on the Upper Ground Floor of One Bonifacio High Street Mall, 5th Ave. Corner 28th Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
