LENOVO and Formula 1 have announced an extension of their partnership, elevating Lenovo to a Global Partner starting in 2025. Motorola, a Lenovo subsidiary, will also become the Global Smartphone Partner of F1.
“Today marks a new chapter in a partnership that will only continue to grow from strength to strength. I look forward to continuing our work with Lenovo and using our shared commitment to precision, innovation, and sustainability to ensure F1 remains the world’s most technologically advanced sport for years to come.” Stefano Domenicali, CEO and President of Formula 1, said expressing his excitement about the expanded partnership.
Lenovo will continue to provide cutting-edge technology to F1, including High-Performance Computing (HPC) solutions, servers, and edge devices. This technology supports F1’s operations, including its world-class broadcasts, and enables staff to create engaging content for fans.
Lenovo’s Asset Recovery Service also contributes to F1’s sustainability goals by ensuring retired hardware is recycled responsibly. This has allowed F1 to sustainably dispose of 95% of its obsolete hardware, reducing costs and security risks.
The partnership has also led to innovative fan experiences, such as the kiss-activated trophies at the 2023 Japanese and United States Grands Prix.
Both F1 and Lenovo are committed to sustainability and exploring next-generation technologies. The collaboration between F1’s technical teams and Lenovo’s Centres of Excellence has resulted in innovative solutions like the use of onsite and Edge Compute AI to improve operational efficiency during live broadcasts.
“We are thrilled to elevate our partnership to the next level becoming a Global Partner of Formula 1…Together, we’re not just shaping the future of technology and motorsport, but we’re also ensuring that cutting-edge technological advancements benefit all, creating unforgettable experiences no matter where they are in the world,” Yang Yuanqing, Chairman & CEO of Lenovo commented as he highlighted the shared vision of harnessing AI for a smarter, more inclusive, and sustainable world.
“When we embarked on our journey with F1 three years ago, we knew they were the right partner for Lenovo as our brand values seamlessly aligned for a smarter, faster, and more sustainable future.
Seeing our high-performance technology implemented across every level of the F1 organization fills us with pride, and our close collaboration together has just begun,” Luca Rossi, President of Intelligent Devices Group, Lenovo concluded.
