ALCATEL-Lucent Enterprise (ALE), a leading provider of communications, networking, and cloud solutions said the government, healthcare, and hospitality sectors are the key growth drivers in the Philippines.
“In the government sector, we will focus on defense, development of smart cities and government institutions while hospitals, nursing homes, and pharmaceuticals are going to be our areas of concentration in healthcare. In the hospitality group, our key focus areas are smart hotels, resorts, cruise ships, theme parks, and museums,” Ilya Gutlin, senior vice president of sales of ALE, told reporters in a press briefing held in Makati City.
The executives present during the media briefing said that they are focused on speeding up digital transformation even for a handful of clients who still have, operate, and maintain legacy systems. Gutlin did not specify who these companies were but said they were mostly those needing and keeping databases.
“We are in a unique position because we still have the expertise to manage these mainframes and legacy systems, but at the same time commit to businesses of all sizes to thrive in the ever-evolving digital landscape,” Gutlin said.
This expertise in network infrastructure, security, and collaboration tools paves the way for enhanced efficiency, increased productivity, and improved experiences for its clients.
Working with government
Damien Delard, vice president for Taiwan, Southeast Asia, and Japan, said ALE has been working closely with the Department of National Defense, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Philippines National Police for several decades on developing the country’s cybersecurity capabilities. He added that developing cybersecurity services is not a simple task as it demands several layers to ensure the network is secured.
“Right now, the push will be stronger on the cloud,” said Delard.
Further, ALE is bullish on the Philippines as its information communications technology market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 10.54% over the forecast period to reach $ 33.93 billion by 2027. “The rapid rise of the network infrastructure market in the Philippines with service providers dominating the market is also one big driver,” said Gutlin.
Talent pool and robust partnerships
Building robust partnerships with local companies provides deeper support and caters to specific regional needs.
ALE also recognizes the importance of fostering a future-ready workforce.
Their dedication to training and development programs empowers local IT professionals with the skills needed to navigate the ever-changing tech landscape. This investment contributes to building a vibrant tech ecosystem within the Philippines.
Staying ahead of the curve is paramount for the company. This is why they actively invest in research and development, ensuring their solutions incorporate the latest technological advancements. This includes collaborations with cloud providers like Microsoft Azure to offer flexible hybrid cloud solutions, empowering businesses with greater agility and scalability.
Moreover, ALE also has a major presence in the local healthcare and hospitality sectors.
The Asian Hospital and Medical Center is one major client of ALE as it developed the medical institution’s network solutions that ensure seamless connectivity.
“ALE knows the healthcare industry and has delivered a cost-effective, easy-to-operate and easy-to-manage network solution that provides the high-speed, reliable connectivity the Asian Hospital needs,” said Edwin Tambeling, Senior Manager for Facilities Infrastructure of Asian Hospital and Medical Center.
Empowered to compete on a global stage
“Among the real-world impacts enabled by the ALE solution, is the ability to quickly and easily access information to make informed decisions about patient care. We are excited to be a part of that,” said Kit Andal, Country Manager at Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise Philippines.
In partnership with Finnish networks company, ALE has developed a robust network connectivity in Solaire and Okada.
As the country embraces digital transformation, Gutlin says ALE stands at the forefront, providing the tools and expertise businesses need to succeed.
For 2024, Gutlin explained that to further strengthen ALE’s position in the key-focused verticals, addressing customers’ business challenges with its end-to-end portfolio to minimize customer total cost of operation is just one aspect. The business goal to maximize return on investment is another phase, yet the most important part is the a sustainable digital transformation, which ALE intends to ride out with its clients.
