Appdome launches new defenses vs. AI-powered mobile app deepfake attacks
MOBILE app security solutions, Appdome, has expanded its Account Takeover Protection suite with 30 new plugins specifically designed to combat deepfake attacks targeting facial and voice recognition in Android and iOS apps. These plugins work to ensure the integrity of Apple Face ID, Google Face Recognition, and other third-party biometric authentication services. Appdome’s platform allows developers to implement these defenses without coding or SDK integration.
Eric Newcomer, CTO and Principal Analyst at Intellyx, highlights the growing reliance on biometric authentication in the mobile economy and the increasing sophistication of attacks designed to bypass these security measures. Appdome’s solution addresses this challenge by providing granular detection and control within the mobile app itself.
Deepfake attacks, fueled by advancements in AI, pose a significant threat to facial recognition systems used for authentication, KYC compliance, and fraud prevention. Attackers utilize techniques such as AI-generated deepfakes, virtual cameras, and voice cloning to manipulate biometric verification processes. Appdome’s Deep Fake Detection plugins aim to counter these threats by sitting on top of existing facial and voice recognition systems, providing an additional layer of security.
Tom Tovar, CEO of Appdome, emphasizes the challenge of detecting AI-generated deepfakes and the company’s commitment to stopping their use within mobile applications. Appdome’s dynamic defense plugins use real-time behavioral analysis to detect and prevent deepfake attacks and their variants, constantly evolving to address new threats.
Chris Roeckl, Chief Product Officer at Appdome, points out the rapid rise of deepfakes in the mobile economy and Appdome’s unique approach to preventing their use. The platform’s defenses are deeply integrated into the mobile application’s framework, providing comprehensive protection.
Appdome’s Deep Fake Detection plugins offer a range of defenses, including detection of Face ID bypass attempts, deepfake apps, and synthetic voice attacks. They also provide liveness checks to ensure real faces are used during authentication. These plugins are available with Appdome’s Threat-Events Intelligence and Control Framework and ThreatScope Mobile XDR service, allowing for detailed attack analysis and customized responses.

Boomi introduces comprehensive API management solution
BOOMI, a leader in intelligent integration and automation, has launched its comprehensive API Management (APIM) solution, integrated within the Boomi Enterprise Platform. This offering combines Boomi’s existing API management capabilities with recently acquired assets from Cloud Software Group and APIIDA. Boomi API Management is designed to help organizations address the growing challenge of API sprawl, particularly in the age of generative AI.
IDC research indicates that organizations with generative AI applications in production have five times more APIs than those not yet heavily invested in the technology. This proliferation of APIs can lead to management complexities and security vulnerabilities. Boomi API Management aims to mitigate these risks by enhancing API discoverability, security, and scalability, enabling businesses to leverage the power of AI.
“APIs have become the backbone of AI-driven innovation,” says Shari Lava, Senior Research Director, AI and Automation at IDC. “Effective API management is no longer optional — it is critical for organizations to ensure security, scalability, and governance while reducing complexity and API sprawl.”
Boomi API Management supports both Boomi and third-party API gateways and is powered by Boomi AI Agents. It is part of the Boomi Enterprise Platform, which unifies integration, automation, data management, and AI management capabilities. This integrated approach contrasts with standalone API management solutions.
Boomi API Management empowers organizations to transform data, applications, and AI assets into secure, scalable APIs. It unifies and governs APIs, eliminating shadow APIs and improving quality and reusability. The solution also offers cloud scalability for mission-critical applications and AI, fostering collaboration and agility. By connecting APIs, applications, data, and AI on a single platform, Boomi enables real-time insights and drives revenue growth.
“APIs underpin the global digital economy and are crucial in the AI Era,” Ed Macosky, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Boomi concluded.
