Appdome partners with GitLab to enhance security
in the mobile app economy
Appdome, the mobile app economy’s one and only Cyber Defense Automation platform, announced that it has released a pre-built integration between its platform and GitLab, the most comprehensive, scalable enterprise DevSecOps platform for software innovation. The new integration is part of Appdome’s Dev2Cyber Partner initiative to accelerate delivery of secure mobile apps globally.
“This new integration allows mobile brands to use GitLab to build any of Appdome’s mobile app security, anti-fraud, anti-malware, anti-cheat and other cyber defenses into Android and iOS apps with ease,” said Karen Hsu, SVP of Mobile DevOps and Security Solutions. “The fast-emerging mobile threat landscape requires agility and speed and this new integration serves mobile developers and the mobile app economy greatly.”
Appdome’s cyber defense automation platform streamlines delivery of mobile app protection and accelerates release times by using technology to build cyber security defenses into iOS and Android apps. Fully automated, no-code, no-SDK protections on Appdome include runtime application self-protection (RASP), code obfuscation, mobile data encryption, jailbreak detection, root detection, man-in-the-middle attack prevention, on-device anti-malware, anti-fraud, anti-cheat, anti-bot and other protections. Appdome delivers these protections with real-time time defense monitoring and attack intelligence via its fully integrated Appdome ThreatScopeâ„¢ XDR solution.
“Security is a top priority at GitLab,” said David Sakamoto, GitLab’s VP of Customer Success. “We’re excited to collaborate and make it even easier for joint customers to deliver the protection needed in their mobile apps.”
Today, global consumers demand more protection than ever in their mobile app experiences. As Appdome’s recent Global Consumer Expectations of Mobile App Security survey revealed, 94% of global consumers said they would promote a brand if the mobile apps protected them against security, fraud and malware risks, while 68% said they’d abandon brands that offered no protection.
“Mobile brands must deliver continuous protection,” said Jamie Bertasi, Chief Customer Officer at Appdome. “Rapid delivery or new protections and plugging into the DevOps ecosystem are critical steps towards an increasingly customer, consumer and end user centric cyber and anti-fraud experience.”

Sky intensifies “Kontra Putol” campaign
SKY continues to intensify the fight against rampant illegal cable cutting and theft as the company bolsters the information drive of its “Oplan Kontra Putol” campaign with “#OplanKontraPutol Barangayan: Sama-sama Laban sa Putol-Kable,” in coordination with respective barangay and local government unit (LGU) officials across Metro Manila, beginning this May.
The upcoming Kontra Putol Barangayan roadshow is SKY’s grassroots initiative to educate the public about cable cutting and how it adversely affects the daily lives of communities relying on cable TV and internet connectivity. Since January 2022, SKY and its telco partners have reported over 472 incidents of illegal cable-cutting in Mega Manila and Cebu.
For its initial leg starting May 9 (Tuesday), SKY brings the Kontra Putol Barangayan event to one of NCR’s hotspot areas where several cases of illegal cable cutting have been recorded, Muntinlupa City, 10 AM at the Muntinlupa Sports Center. Then, the latest installment will head over to another hotspot area in Metro Manila, San Juan City, on May 22 (Monday).
Among the topics to be discussed are the differences between intentional and accidental cable cutting, mistaking fiber cables containing copper, and laws circumventing the criminal act, including RA 10515 (Anti-Cable Television and Cable Internet Tapping Act of 2013) and articles from the Revised Penal Code on Theft and Malicious Mischief alongside its corresponding repercussions. The event will also run down SKY’s continuous programs and collaborative efforts with various telcos in the country.
Apart from the cascade of the necessary information to curb further cases of the criminal act, SKY will also share with the attendees its five-pronged strategy to readily address these situations: technical visits, filing of barangay reports, monitoring of affected sites, deployment of SKY team for assistance, and call-to-action to report similar cases.
In line with its stringent Oplan Kontra Putol campaign, SKY urges the public to report these cases to not only hold perpetrators accountable but also prevent further service interruptions to households within the vicinity.
Subscribers and concerned citizens alike can report cases of illegal cable cutting via www.mysky.com.ph/kontraputol or by messaging SKY’s 24/7 messaging platform KYLA on Viber (mysky.com.ph/kylaofsky), Facebook Messenger (m.me/myskyupdates), and SKY’s official website (mysky.com.ph/message-us).
For those based in Mega Manila, SKY also ensures the availability of its security hotline +63 2 34499111 for daily monitoring and reporting of cable-cutting incidents.
