Raymund M. Pascual, Country Manager of Bluefloat Energy Philippines and lead organizer of the Pilipinas Offshore Wind Energy Resource Inc. (POWER) passed away last April 21. He was 52. He is survived by his wife Tes, and 3 children, Eubel, Franco and Toni.
His sudden demise was announced by his daughter Eubel, in a Facebook post.
A electrical engineering graduate of Mápua University, Pascual rose from the ranks of Technical Engineer to Country Manager for 3M Philippines Healthcare Division, where he stayed for 12 years. He then took various roles in Electro-Systems Inc., Schneider Electric, Enernet Inc. before joining the Spanish offshore wind energy firm BlueFloat in May 2022.
In his short stint with BlueFloat Philippines, Pascual relentlessly pushed the general wind energy portfolio and renewable energy agenda. When organizing the POWER he was quoted as saying “as long as we don’t deal with non renewables, we are on the same track, solar, wind, hydro, geothermal…these are all energy sources for the future…for protection of Mother Earth.”
As a pioneer of offshore wind energy, Pascual always spoke of a “whole of country” approach to wind energy production and said at the launch of POWER that “to confront the reality of our need to focus our attention on the upgrading and repurposing of ports.”
Pascual encouraged government and investors to look at the whole offshore wind power ecosystem that will generate thousands of jobs, billions of pesos in commerce, increase port size, traffic and handling at the same time prepare the Philippines and develop its energy sector.
A member of the Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals (BCBP) Mon is a devout and passionate Catholic. In a social media post the BCBP said “with heavy heart, we bid farewell to our esteemed colleague and Senior Leader, Bro. Raymund ‘Mon’ Pascual, who has been called back by the Lord. Mon’s legacy as a champion for business transformation and the common good will forever be cherished within our community.”
Memorial service for Mon will be until evening of April 25, 2024 at the Resurrection 3 Chapel at the Arlington Memorial Homes in Quezon City. Cremation will follow the next day, April 26, 2024 at 2:00 pm. — Raymond B. Tribdino
