AT GOOGLE Cloud Next ‘23, Google Cloud announced that Duet AI will now provide AI assistance across Google Cloud products and services to users spanning employees, software developers, IT operators, data practitioners, and cybersecurity professionals.
“We unveiled Duet AI at Google I/O in May, introducing powerful new features across Workspace and showcasing developer features such as code and chat assistance in Google Cloud. Since then, trusted testers worldwide have experienced the power of Duet AI while we worked on expanding capabilities and integrating it across a wide range of products and services throughout Workspace and Google Cloud,” Thomas Kurian, Google Cloud CEO said.
Duet AI is an always-on AI collaborator integrated into Google Workspace and Google Cloud. Duet AI in Google Workspace, is now available to assist every user in writing, spreadsheets works, project management, note taking for meetings, and creative visual designs. Meanwhile, Duet AI in Google Cloud is expanding its preview capabilities to optimize its power from software operations and data analysis to cybersecurity.
“It’s been an exciting year so far for Google Cloud. We’ve achieved some noteworthy milestones, including in Q2 2023, reaching a US$32 billion annual revenue run rate and seeing our second quarter of profitability, which is all based on the success of our customers across every industry,” Kurian added.
“Today, we’re proud to announce new ways we’re helping every business, government, and user benefit from generative AI and leading cloud technologies.”
These new technologies involving Duet AI coupled with Google Services or standalones like Google Chat enhanced with AI. These new services include: 1) Duet AI in Google Workspace where users can now access Duet AI in Google Workspace, which streamlines tasks like creating presentations and content refinement. 2) Duet AI in Google Meet enhances employee engagement with real-time note-taking, summaries, and improved appearance and sound quality. 3) Google Chat improvements and now offers a refreshed interface, shortcuts, enhanced search, and real-time huddles with support for up to 500,000 participants. For security and privacy: (4) Duet AI prioritizes user security and privacy with zero-trust controls and cybersecurity features.
Finally, Duet AI is available cross Google Cloud which extends its capabilities to developers, IT operators, data practitioners, and cybersecurity professionals, aiding them in coding, infrastructure operations, data analytics, and security.
“Customers are already realizing value from Duet AI in Google Cloud: L’Oréal is able to achieve better and faster business decisions from their data, and Turing, in early testing, is reporting engineering productivity gains of one-third. Duet AI delivers contextual recommendations from PaLM 2 large language models (LLMs) and expert guidance, trained and tuned with Google Cloud-specific content, such as documentation, sample code, and Google Cloud best practices,” added Kurian.
Finally, Google took care to place a strong emphasis on security and data privacy. “In addition, Duet AI was designed using Google’s comprehensive approach to help protect customers’ security and privacy, as well as our AI principles. With Duet AI, your data is your data. Your code, your inputs to Duet AI, and your recommendations generated by Duet AI will not be used to train any shared models nor used to develop any products,” Kurian concludes.
Google emphasizes the value of Duet AI for customers like L’Oréal and Turing and assures users that their data remains private and secure.
