Auto solutions partnership
DURING the Computex 2023 in Taiwan, leading chip maker MediaTek made a significant announcement regarding its partnership with NVIDIA. The collaboration aims to provide a comprehensive range of in-vehicle AI cabin solutions for the next generation of software-defined vehicles. By combining the strengths of both companies’ automotive portfolios, they aim to deliver compelling solutions for cutting-edge connected cars.
At Computex 2023 Rick Tsai, Vice Chairman and CEO of MediaTek, expressed the company’s excitement about partnering with NVIDIA, a renowned pioneer and industry leader in AI and computing. Their joint vision is to establish a global one-stop shop for the automotive industry, focusing on designing intelligent and always-connected vehicles. This collaboration allows them to offer a unique platform for future software-defined vehicles that require compute-intensive capabilities.
Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, highlighted the impact of AI and accelerated computing on the entire automotive industry. He emphasized that the combination of MediaTek’s industry-leading System-on-Chip (SoC) and NVIDIA’s GPU and AI software technologies will enable new user experiences, enhanced safety features, and a range of connected services across various vehicle segments.
Under this partnership, MediaTek will develop automotive SoCs that integrate a new NVIDIA GPU chiplet along with NVIDIA’s AI and graphics intellectual property (IP). These chiplets will be connected using an ultra-fast and coherent chiplet interconnect technology.
MediaTek’s smart cabin solutions will utilize NVIDIA’s DRIVE OS, DRIVE IX, CUDA, and TensorRT software technologies. This integration will enable the delivery of AI-driven cabin and cockpit functions with cutting-edge graphic. It also takes advantage of both combined expertise in AI, cloud computing, graphics technology, and software, and combining it with NVIDIA’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) solutions for enhanced safety and security features.
