PLDT Enterprise, in partnership with the PLDT-Smart Foundation (PSF) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), is expanding its Smart Carts initiative to empower micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across the Philippines.
Launched in September 2024, the program has already provided Smart Carts to 12 MSMEs in various regions and aims to continue this expansion throughout 2025. This collaboration underscores the PLDT Group’s commitment to supporting MSMEs in building resilient and sustainable businesses.
“At PLDT Enterprise, we prioritize working with partners who share our vision of empowering communities and enabling growth. We support the Department of Trade and Industry’s mandate to drive MSME development in the Philippines, and our partnership reflects a shared commitment to providing entrepreneurs with the resources and tools they need to thrive in an increasingly digital economy. By collaborating with DTI, we are creating opportunities for MSMEs to expand their reach and enhance their operations, ensuring that no Filipino entrepreneur is left behind in this age of innovation,” said Chet Alviz, Vice President and Head of Enterprise Marketing at PLDT Enterprise.
The Smart Carts initiative provides MSMEs with the tools necessary to adapt to the digital economy. Each cart is equipped with digital solutions, including Smart Retailer Kits and Maya digital payment solutions, designed to improve operational efficiency and enhance ustomer service.
“The Smart Carts symbolize more than just economic support—they represent our joint mission to equip, train, and connect MSMEs with the resources and knowledge they need to thrive in today’s competitive market. This initiative embodies the spirit of shared growth and sustainability,” explained Esther O. Santos, President of the PLDT-Smart Foundation.
“Through our collaboration with PLDT Enterprise and the PLDT-Smart Foundation, we aim to provide MSMEs with tools and training that enable them to grow their businesses and contribute to the economic recovery and resilience of our country,” Blesila Lantayona, DTI Undersecretary and Supervising Head for the Regional Operations Group said. The DTI plays a crucial role in the program by facilitating endorsements and turnovers of Smart Carts to priority regions nationwide and providing training and education to beneficiaries.
Recently, four MSMEs in the National Capital Region received Smart Carts: Naredo Romeo Jr. of Naredo Twister Fries, Felisa D. Trinidad of Fely’s Boneless Lechon, Ronald Capellan of Bee Blessings, and Lysyia Sanchez Gatoc of El Biko Kakanin/Triple E Food and Beverage Station.
