MAPíšA University is teaming up with Cisco to launch the country’s first digital university. This groundbreaking collaboration is part of Cisco’s Country Digital Acceleration program, known as Ugnayan 2030.
Under the program, Cisco will equip Mapúa with cutting-edge technology to revamp traditional classrooms and enhance hybrid learning.
“The pandemic has revealed the power of hybrid learning in keeping students and teachers connected from anywhere and at any time. But these experiences are only possible with the right connectivity, collaboration and right level of cyber security,” Dr. Dodjie S. Maestrecampo, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mapúa University said as he emphasized the pivotal role of partnerships with private organizations such as Cisco in driving innovation in education.
“Cisco has been a trusted advisor and partner in empowering our flexible, hybrid learning journey. I am confident that this partnership will transform the learning experience Mapúa University will offer its students moving forward,” Maestrecampo added.
To ensure the effective use of Cisco devices and solutions in teaching and learning, Mapúa and Cisco are introducing a specialized training curriculum for educators. This training program will empower teachers and students to communicate, collaborate, and learn effectively from any location.
Mapúa University’s vision for a modernized campus extends beyond technology integration. The university plans to make education accessible globally by offering fully online Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs. Additionally, Mapúa will support upskilling and micro-credential initiatives through accredited online courses. As one of the largest partners for the Cisco Networking Academy in the Philippines, Mapúa aims to equip students with the skills needed for a digital world.
Key components of Mapúa University’s digital transformation with Cisco technology include the use of platforms such as Cisco Collaboration which will enable the university to deliver courses through a mix of face-to-face, synchronous, and asynchronous sessions using Cisco’s Webex Suite. It features AI-powered noise cancellation and personalized insights into students’ study patterns, providing a consistent and tailored learning experience.
Cisco devices such as Webex boards will facilitate interactive and engaging learning experiences, allowing students and teachers to join video-first meetings, collaborate on digital whiteboards, and benefit from real-time translation and transcription capabilities. The Meraki Wireless and Meraki Smart Camera: which are integrated with wireless connectivity, to will provide real-time data on classroom occupancy and enhance campus security by serving as CCTV cameras.
“The future of education is changing, as hybrid learning opens opportunities to increase access and drive continuity of engagement…Through our CDA program, Cisco is proud and thrilled to be a part of Mapúa University’s transformative journey to bring students together in immersive and engaging ways and empower them to learn not just within the confines of a classroom but their homes and anywhere in between,” Zaza Soriano-Nicart, Cisco Philippines Managing Director shared.
