COINS.PH, the leading cryptocurrency exchange in the country, teamed up with global ride-hailing app inDrive and decentralized mapping network Hivemapper to introduce blockchain-powered ride-hailing cars in Manila.

“By layering token rewards on top of ride-hailing services, we’re giving drivers a way to boost their earnings from work they’re already doing. This aligns with our mission to empower Filipino communities through crypto,” Wei Zhou, CEO of Coins.ph, said as he described the groundbreaking partnership during a press event in Quezon City.

The collaboration uses Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (DePIN) to connect transportation with blockchain, creating new earning opportunities. The Philippines becomes one of the first countries to implement DePIN in a real-world context, reflecting its innovative drive.

“By empowering our drivers with new income streams through decentralized mapping, we’re not just enhancing their earning potential but also contributing to a smarter, more connected world.”

Mark Tolley, inDrive’s APAC Director noted as he highlighted the project’s transformative potential. He also outlined how the partnership lets drivers earn extra income by collecting real-time mapping data.

Hivemapper equips inDrive vehicles with dashcam-like devices that collect mapping data. Drivers earn $HONEY tokens for their contributions, which can be managed via the Coins.ph app for payments and daily needs.

Hivemapper’s co-founder Ariel Seidman noted, “For decades, drivers had to rely on outdated maps, but Hivemapper lets them improve local maps passively while earning rewards.”
