AMERICAN video game maker 2K announced over the weekend the release of NBA 2K24, the latest installment in the acclaimed NBA video game series. The game is now available across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
The game promises a unique experience, embracing the rich history and future of basketball culture with innovative updates.
“NBA 2K24 is a special entry for us because we get to celebrate one of basketball’s greatest players of all time – Kobe Bryant – and the 25th anniversary of the series,” Greg Thomas, President at Visual Concepts commented as he highlighted the significance of this release which introduces ProPLAY technology, offering the most authentic and realistic NBA 2K gameplay to date.
Key features of NBA 2K24 include ProPLAY Technology that directly incorporates real NBA footage into gameplay, resulting in a significant leap in authenticity for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players. Its enhanced gameplay is brought about by new gameplay innovations, lifelike visuals, revamped interior defense, and dribble combo controls for more skill-based actions and effectiveness.
During the launch at SM Mall of Asia Central Atrium, players who signed up got to play ‘The City’ on the big screen. The virtual street basketball game provides non-stop hoops action. The fun and collaborative effort of this particular game play attracted many players to sample the games running on desktops at the event.
“It has a different level of game play, it’s very smooth and very fast, I can’t wait to get a copy of it,” Sandra S., a student of the National University and an avid basketball fan.
An exciting, and possibly the most important addition is Mamba Moments, which is A tribute to Kobe Bryant. This mode allows players to recreate iconic moments from his illustrious career.
“The features alone is worth the price,” Kenneth D., a gamer and call center employee said expressing the awesomeness of having Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant as the main ‘endorser’ of the 2K24 set. He also liked the My Team feature, which is a digital card-collecting catalog. The mode features foundational changes, including an all-new salary cap mode, while retaining its competitive feel. The game has a very unique feel with competition through the ranks in the “Pursuit of Greatness” feature, competing in 3v3 street games and unlocking rewards on your journey to becoming a court legend. In the MyNBA mode, players can guide their team against or alongside LeBron James, starting in 2011. Additionally, MyNBA Lite offers a streamlined version for casual players.
Kobe Bryant, the 18-time All-Star, five-time NBA Champion, and Hall of Famer, graces the cover of NBA 2K24 as the Kobe Bryant Edition and Black Mamba Edition cover athlete.
