THE Collegiate Center for Esports (CCE) Season 3 returns with flying colors next month, staging its Grand Finals in the inaugural Philippine GameDev Expo (PGDX) at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay.

Riding on the crest of two successful seasons, the CCE will serve as one of the major exhibitors in the PGDX from Aug.18 to 20.

In PGDX, the first-ever game development expo in the Philippines, the CCE will roll the red carpet for its 10 founding teams anew as they slug it out for the Season 3 crown– with Fantech as its official tech partner.

All eyes will be on reigning back-to-back champions Lyceum, which looks to be the last team standing anew when they hit the PGDX grand stage for the semifinals on Aug. 19 and the grand finals on Aug. 20.

Led by coach and team captain Paul Adrienne “FAE” Huang and back-to-back CCE MVP Mark Kenneth “Mark” Delos Reyes, Lyceum still looms as the heavy favorite with Season 1 runner-up San Sebastian College and Season 2 second-place Letran up looking to pull off upsets.

Arellano University, Jose Rizal University, Mapua University, College of St. Benilde, Emilio Aguinaldo College, San Beda University, and Perpetual Help are also out for strong contention in the much-awaited return of CCE, led by chairman Stanley Lao, president Waiyip Chong, chairman emeritus Peter Cayco, and general manager Jay Recto.

For the past months, CCE stepped up its drive in a bid to further the Esports development, as aside from their mother tournament, they also held several competitions from the MLBB SEA Campus Invitational last year, the CCE University Clash and the SEA Invitationals.

The fastest growing Esports league also helped in organizing the historic Friendship Games of the Commission on Higher Education.

Just last summer, the CCE gained an exclusive invitation by the Philippine Esports Organization (PESO) in the Sibol National Team Selection qualifiers for the 32nd Southeast Asian Games MLBB, with Lyceum reaching the quarterfinals as one of the few amateur squads. Now, the stage is set for the CCE’s return not only for Season 3 as it also introduces the inaugural Philippine Collegiate Championships (PCC) next.

More than 2000 schools from all over the Philippines will participate in the first phase of the tournament with the four best squads from the National Capital Region, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao advancing to the 16-team finals of PCC sponsored by Xiaomi, with Playdex as its official community platform.
