Digital Pilipinas, Global FinTech Institute (GFI): Partnership to build fintech expertise established

DIGITAL Pilipinas, a prominent private sector-led movement focused on building an innovation and technology ecosystem in the Philippines, has partnered with the Global FinTech Institute (GFI), a global organization dedicated to certifying FinTech professionals and promoting collaboration, ethics, and knowledge in the industry. This collaboration aims to launch several initiatives that will enhance the expertise of fintech professionals. As part of this effort, GFI will serve as the content advisor and certification partner for the upcoming Digital Pilipinas Festival and Philippine Fintech Festival Year 2, scheduled to take place from October 2-5, 2023, at the SMX Aura in Taguig City.

Participants attending the Digital Pilipinas Festival and Philippine Fintech Festival will have the opportunity to receive GFI certifications, which are widely recognized credentials in the field of FinTech. These certifications are closely connected to exclusive C-suite masterclasses focused on frontier technologies such as Smart Cities & PropTech, Digital Finance, Open Economy & Lending, Big Data, AI Industry Applications, InsurTech & HealthTech, and TrustTech (Cybersecurity & GovTech), all of which will be held during the festival.

Furthermore, Digital Pilipinas Convenor Amor Maclang has been appointed as Honorary Global Lead for community partnerships and engagement by GFI. In this role, Maclang will foster relationships, mentor individuals, guide community partnership strategies, and facilitate engagement efforts. The appointment recognizes Maclang’s passion, unique perspectives, and extensive experience in developing digital ecosystems, particularly through her work with Digital Pilipinas.

The Global FinTech Institute, headquartered in Singapore, is widely regarded as a leading global think tank and industry organization that promotes the use of FinTech through advocacy, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. The institute empowers its members and community by facilitating collaborations, sharing best practices, developing standards and guidelines for fair FinTech use, and providing education and training to build industry capabilities and nurture talent.

Maclang brings a wealth of experience in digital innovation to her new role at GFI. Through her involvement with Digital Pilipinas, she collaborates closely with local government units, national line agencies, private sector leaders, and international partners to implement digital transformation initiatives that address industry challenges.

With her appointment by GFI, Maclang joins a network of esteemed professionals from around the world who are committed to advancing digital transformation and financial inclusion on a global scale.
